Manufacturing Engineer
Menlo Park, CA


Job Position Description:

We are looking for a highly motivated, talented Manufacturing and Development Engineer. This role will be instrumental in transitioning dispersion processes into manufacturing. Additionally, the role will be responsible for dispersion process improvements as well as engaging other members of the development team to drive further performance from this step in the production flow. The role is a key in driving Unidym’s efforts in transparent electrodes integration for touchpanels and displays. Expectations and deliverables are focused on:

  • Dispersion science and processing.
  • Manufacturing robustness.
  • Integration into Manufacturing, Lean improvements.

Commercial experience with dispersion processing and Experience with chemical processes in a manufacturing environment is also a requirement. Experience with carbon nanotubes or other nanoscale materials processing and characterization is a plus but not required.

Ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment with creative and energetic people is essential for success. This role will be fast moving, highly accountable, and high quality focused. Be ready to work with a motivated team. This role will support the Company’s efforts to bring its carbon nanotube-based transparent electrodes to market in 2008.

This position reports to our VP of Products.

Requirements:
  • BS/MS in Chemical engineering or related experience.
  • 4 - 8 years industry experience in dispersion and chemicals process development.
  • Understanding of dispersion principles and technologies.
  • Technical drive to improve processes and develop the next generation technology.
  • Creative solutions and world class ideas are implemented.
  • Direct experience with processing of carbon nanotubes is highly preferred, but not necessary.

  • 4 - 10 years industry experience in polymer chemicals process development.

  • Direct experience with roll coating including standard production and characterization equipment is highly preferred, but not necessary.
  • Polymer formulation work for coatings is a critical skill needed.

Job Position Description:

We are looking for a highly motivated, disciplined Production Manager. This is a key leadership role in driving Unidym’s manufacturing goals in supplying transparent electrodes integration for touchpanels and displays. Expectations and deliverables are focused on:

  • Customer focused, quality delivered products
  • Manufacturing robustness for web based coating and related processes
  • Production performance targets(quality, safety, environmental, cost)
  • Ensuring Production demands are met
  • Interface for Development team introducing new processes/products
  • Production scheduling, Inventory Management, shipping

Planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the manufacturing operations with special emphasis on operational performance is critical. Additional responsibilities include maintaining operating procedures, Leadership activities in hiring processes, performance assessments, preparing & effectively delivering on department budget. Responsibilities with customer and partner negotiations and relationship management will be required. Experience with carbon nanotubes or other nanoscale materials processing and characterization is a plus but not required. Travel is required.

Thin Film Coatings Engineer

Career Position description:

We are looking for a highly motivated, talented Coatings Engineer. This role will be instrumental in advancing as well as transitioning thin film coatings of carbon nanotubes into manufacturing. Additionally, the role will be responsible for delivering improvements as well as engaging other members of the development team to drive further performance from this step in the lab & production flow. Interfacing with technical partners will be a necessary component in this opportunity. You’ll play a primary role in driving Unidym’s efforts in transparent electrodes integration for touch panels and displays. Expectations and deliverables are focused on:

  • Robust thin film carbon nanotube wet coatings.
  • Thin film performance structure-property relationship mapping.
  • Manufacturing robustness
